I am going to be arguing for the existence of God. This is a subject that has produced a lot of great debates I’m going be covering a couple areas of study which are philosophy and science I’ll cover one scientific arguments the Kalam Cosmological Argument and two philosophical arguments which are the Transcendental and the Moral Argument. There are several objections each of these and I will cover them and respond to some of them. I pray that this will help you in defending the faith against those who make the claim that “God does not exist”.
The Kalam Cosmological Argument which was mentioned not by name in the popular Christian movie “God’s not dead” and used by Dr. William Lane Craig in his debates and lectures basically says that “everything that has a beginning has a cause, the universe had a beginning, and therefore the universe has a cause” several atheists including Richard Dawkins object by saying “who created God?” which is easily refuted from scripture (Numbers 23:19 and Malachi 3:6 Revelation 1:8) that say that “God is eternal” and therefore has no beginning. Some people have argued against that universe having a beginning which violates the second law of thermodynamics. Some argue for the idea of the multiple universe theory which is not proven and is wishful thinking. Even if the multiple universe theory were true, then how were the multiple universes created?
The Transcendental Argument this is my favorite one to talk to atheists about. It was mentioned the famous Greg Bahnsen vs Gordon Stein debate. It basically says that Christianity is the only worldview that can account for the preconditions of intelibility (senses, reasoning, laws of logic, absolute truth, absolute morality, human dignity etc.) Alternative worldviews such as atheism cannot account for the preconditions of intelligibility. Some atheists take the idea of relativism which says that “there is no absolute truth” but that even that idea says it’s absolutely true that there is no absolute truth. Some atheists also that everything has to be proven by empirical methods, but the question that should be asked is was the statement itself proven by empirical methods? Also most atheists reject the idea of objective/absolute morality and I will cover their objections in the next paragraph. I recommend the book “The Ultimate Proof of Creation” by Dr. Jason Lisle and http://www.answersforhope.org/ by my friend Jason Petersen.
The Moral Argument is the argument that says that atheism can’t provide a standard for objective moral values and duties and instead appeal to subjective morality and only theists can account for them. I have personally debated atheists on this topic. The explanations I have heard are nihilism, “morality is descriptive”, and subjective based on the individual or culture. The problems is that cultures around the world have the same set of laws against murder, stealing, lying (in certain circumstances) etc. This proves to me what Romans 2:14-15 which says “For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves. Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another ;)”
In conclusion these are some the arguments that prove God’s existence. There are many more that have not studied much of. I hope that this helps you understand that God is real and that he did indeed create the heavens and earth as his said in Genesis chapter one. I would also recommend you go look at the other stuff that I have posted on this website, contact me on my contact page and tell me what you think.
